MeadowBrook Safe Harbor is a No Kill Shelter. Until permanent homes can be found dogs and cats stay here and are cared for by our staff. Dr. Brooks sees to it that any animal that comes in gets the necessary vetting services and care that they need to ensure that they are healthy. Safe Harbor Rescue offers dogs and cats for adoption for only their medical expenses. We have a wide variety for adoption.

	FEATURED PET Buffy is a 5 yr. old, spayed, female German Shorthair Pointer. She is currently in foster care and is looking for a new home. She has spent her entire life in a dog run only to be let out to go hunting, and that hasn't even happened in the last two years. Buffy is a very sweet girl, and is really enjoying her freedom. She is beautiful, friendly, and energetic. If you would be interested in adopting this beauty, please call us at 316-733-6866 and we will have the foster mom bring her so that you can visit with her. She is gonna steal your heart!!

	Alaska - 2-3 year old male Husky. Pure white with gorgeous blue eyes. House trained and leash trained too! He's going to make some family a wonderful pet!

	Boston Beagle Mix - Female 9 weeks old. She is a sweetheart! She is a black brindle with white and also known as a Boggle!

	Sissy - Female Dachshund, 1 year old, black and tan smooth coat. Beautiful girl, very gentle and loving.
	Benny the Chihuahua. Benny is 1 1/2 years old. He still needs some guidance in the housebreaking department, but given a stable home and regular routine it shouldn't be a problem. Benny is a good boy and very loving.
	This is Shane. Shane is a 3 1/2 year old neutered male Cockapoo. He is apricot in color. He is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken. He is a little shy, but warms up after a short time.
	Skiddles - male mixed breed. 10 months old, neutered, and housebroke. Brother to Snickers. Friendly, leashbroke and gets along great with his sister. Kid friendly too!
	Snickers - female mixed breed. 10 months old, spayed and housebroke. Skiddles sister. Friendly, leashbroke and gets along great with her brother. Kid friendly too!
	Benji is a 1 1/2 yr. old Welsh Terrier mix. He is white with orangish spots. He is current on his vaccinations and wormings, and will be neutered.
	Kat is a Lab mix...but don't let her name fool you! She hates cats...felines should definitely beware! She is very friendly and loving though.
	Misty - 1 year old Chow Chow. Would do best as an only pet as she is a dominant girl. Beautiful girl!
	Chase - 6 year old male Papillon. Sable and white. Come on...Who can resist that face???
	Female German Shorthair Pointer. She was lost in the Rose Hill area and brought to us.
	9 month old Yorkie male - a little shy, but getting better all the time.
	Meet Shorty! What a guy! He was saved from being put down at the Eureka Shelter! He has energy and bounce and is a really great dog.
	Chiffon#2 (Shih Tzu Bichon Cross) - 1 year old male. Brother to the other little guy we have. He too is fairly shy, but needs to be loved! How can you resist those eyes!
	Carlos- Chihuahua Rat Terrier cross. Carlos was rescued from the KHS. He walks well on a leash and has lots of energy! Kid friendly and needs a family that can keep up with him:)
	Cairn Terrier female, 3 years old
	Lhasa Apso - red and white 2 year old male. Beneath all that fur is a great little dog
	Chelsea is a chiweenie. She was saved by someone from being put down at the pound, and so now she is looking for her forever home. Chelsea is a very scared little lady, but is a beautiful pewter grey with a very sweet little face. If given a chance, Chelsea will settle into a new home just fine.
	Puggle, male- 1 year old, Red. He is a very sweet natured boy. Great family dog, good with kids and sweet temperament.
	Champ - What a guy! Male Lhasa Apso. Champ was found wandering a neighborhood. He is such a sweetheart! He really deserves a loving forever home.
	Lhasa Apso- golden - male 1 year old. Tons of cuteness right here!! Does not do well with small children.
	Missy - Cattledog mix. LOTS OF ENERGY!! Missy was found abandoned at the lake with her puppies! The family that took her in found homes for all of her puppies, and now mama just needs to find a loving home of her own. What a happy face!

To Adopt an Animal:

• Call 316-733-6866 to set up a time to come in.
• If you make the decision to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption agreement form.
• The fee involved in adopting from us covers the necessary vet services for the animal. These fees include the spay or neuter, heartworm test, all of the necessary vaccinations including their rabies, distemper and bordetella, and the worming as well as any other surgeries or treatments that the individual animal needs.
  
  *Adopting an animal is a lifelong decision. Please understand that we want our animals to find forever homes. Many of our animals have already had a difficult enough life and going from home to home is very stressful for them. If you do not have the time or funds that an animal requires, we ask that you rethink your decision to adopt a pet.

Surrendering an animal:

• We understand how difficult it may be for you to surrender your pet. We are commited to placing surrendered animals into forever loving homes.
• We have a limited amount of space available and are unable to take every dog that needs help. Please understand that we will help if we can, but that space is not always available.
• Please note that we do not take known aggressive dogs. We cannot have our staff nor potential pet owners being at risk of being bitten.

Volunteering:

Volunteers are always appreciated and are welcome anytime. Dogs need to be walked, bathed, groomed, and socialized. If you would like to help, just stop in and we can put you to work :)

To make donations to the Safe Harbor:

• Donations are always welcome since we do not get funding from any other sources. All funding comes straight out of the Hospitals budget.
• You can mail donations to PO Box 780531, Wichita, KS 67278 or stop in anytime to visit us.
• Newspapers, towels, dog/cat food, litter, leashes, etc. are always appreciated.
